Rockbox 432hz Pitch?
« on: August 14, 2014, 04:56:18 PM »
I was curious if Rockbox had such a feature to listen to music in the proper 432hz fashion. It kind of did..... The pitch feature lets you do just that and slow down the tempo. While this isn't bad, there is noticeable playback issues. Out of 100%, it's suggested that 98.182% is the 432hz converting from 440hz (assuming the original recording was at 440hz as music industry default). None the less, the are playback issues.

On Foobar, there's a plug in called SoundTouch which lets you listen to anything at the correct 432hz pitch without artifacts. I was curious if there is such a plug in for Rockbox out there? It would be nice to not have edit all my music just for this if it can be avoided.

Thank you for reading.

Plugins can't change audio playback, so they won't do anything for you here.

What is the issue with the current pitch correction feature?

First of all, all the plugins available for Rockbox that run on your player and were enabled at build time (e.g., no test plugins) are already on your DAP: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginIndex. ;)
Regarding pitch correction, set the pitch to 98%. (From WPS, Long Click->Pitch->Left)

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you both for your answers. You both right. The pitch feature is there, but I noticed that is not a perfect audio science, especially for real time. Even in post, it took a long time render audio under a different pitch and noticed many artifacts (for a variety of reasons) and decided the whole exercise mute. Some plug ins do it better than other, but it's a huge hassle if you're into the whole 432hz thing.
