You can install any version of Rockbox, although the latest dev build would be the best choice, as 3.13 is a bit old.
To install a development build, first boot the recovery image of Rockbox after installing emCORE and plug the iPod into your computer.Then, download a zip for the appropriate device from http://build.rockbox.org/ and unzip the files to the root of the player.

That's just creating a further unnecessary step.The fallback image is only relevant to this situation IFF the device cannot be mounted using the installed Rockbox binary.[Saint]
ARGH!!! I was thinking after a format...
Having isssues now rockbox when i boot up my ipod it stays at the rockbox bootscreen
the screen hangs at the rock box logo when it should go to the main menu and this is the error message i get
