This points to an error caused by incorrectly ejecting the device.
To quote from the instructions given in the wiki:
Download the "installer-ipodclassic.ubi" file from the emCORE Releases page
- Save it to the 64MB-sized "UMSboot" volume
- Eject that volume (use "Eject" from the Explorer right-click menu, or the "eject" utility on Linux)
- Follow the on-screen instructions
...
From a user standpoint, it seems like it should do the same thing. This is a natural and common assumption. However, from a technical standpoint the "Safely Eject" utility from the system tray only flushes the cache, it doesn't send the "stop device" command that emCORE is waiting for.
I hope this addresses your issue.
For the sake of convenience, I will continue to address support in this thread, but as a note to both OP and anyone else reading this:
Please do keep in mind that this is most certainly *not* a Rockbox issue. At this point in the installation, support falls on the freemyipod team, so it would be best to
talk to them directly (I can assist you there, as well, as there is quite some overlap between these teams).
I appreciate that this is seen as a "Rockbox issue", as you are attempting to install Rockbox. This is a natural assumption. However, Rockbox offers no officially supported means of bootloader (which is what emCORE is) installation, emCORE is not under the control of the Rockbox team and support requests should go to the freemyipod team. Only binary installation is supported by Rockbox.
