Onyx Boox M92 Programmable MP3 Player For Autosuggestive learning
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:02:07 AM »

I am sure many of you have heard about the methods of learning while sleeping. Originally this was used primarily to learn languages while asleep, because that is mostly a mechanical and automatic function of subconscious mind, and there is not much need for logical thinking. But this has been extended for other fields of science as well, and it is not limited only for learning languages.

The method is very simple: the material to be memorized is recorded, and it is played back several times during the night while the student is asleep. The same process can be used to reprogram our own subconscious mind to our liking. Phobias can be eradicated and released or at least weakened, and new positive affirmations, subconscious programming can be implanted for effective self development.

The E-reader Onyx Boox M92 has got an inbuilt MP3 player capability with a loudspeaker, low power consumption, and silent operation, it could be an ideal device for the purpose. All we need is a programmable MP3 player that runs on Linux (the E-reader is based on Linux) and can be installed on M92. It needs a simple function that could replay a timed playlist. The user creates a time table in which he marks each MP3 file with a start time when its playback should start.

My questions:

Is it possible to install RockBox On the Onyx Boox M92?
Can RockBox replay MP3 files starting each at specific times of the day?

If this function is not built into RockBox, is there realistic chance for adding this feature to it in near future?
Have you got any suggestion where to find any other program capable of this function?

Cheers,
Joe

I would reformulate the question.

Would it be interesting for people to have autosuggestive learning in RockBox?

(I do not think anyone is going to port RB to e-book reader, but it possibly will run android soon, so probably android port of RB might run on M92.) ;)

Probably not, but you're welcome to add a plugin for it.

Edit:  Although if you're running Android and just want to play a file at certain times, using an Android app might be much easier.

Thanks for your comments, its clear now that this option is a no go. It would take too much work to get this working with RockBox on M92.

I will do it in a somewhat primitive and simplified way which doesn't need any new software or modification. Simply create silent MP3 files of specific durations like 1hour, 10 minutes, 1 minute etc. and use them on the playlist as spacers between the real suggestive files. This way the text can be played back approximately during the REM phase of sleep only, for better efficiency. Leaving the rest of sleep time silent for deep sleep and refreshment.
