Running RockBox 3.11.2
Planning on capturing an "unconference" with parallel tracks. Audio for most participants with Clip+ on their collars. Many Clip+.
SanDisk firmware 01.02.16 audio clipped (ha!) terribly, and there were no recording volume controls. It appears the recording volume controls of RockBox allow me to actually USE their product for this project.
One feature I don't see replicated is the ability to lock the device, so that only holding the HOME key can unlock it. Is there a lock feature and I can't find it? (Have read manual do not see it.)
Also I'm not sure I understand the difference between VOLUME and GAIN.
Turning down the recording volume seems to do the trick, but what is the difference between volume and gain?
And lastly, does anyone have any generic advice for recording with the Clip+?
Should I reduce file size just so a dying battery will risk less data loss?
So long as the screen goes dark because no button is hit will recording go on as long as possible, or is there some setting that also helps the battery last longer?
Thanks for any help, and great work on this firmware. I was going nuts trying to address the issue of audio clipping by trying to physically reduce mic sensitivity. Probably a dumb idea, it certainly wasn't working no matter what I did to the Clip+.
