[Edit]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------Now that I have a better understanding on how playlist functionality was changed (if for better or worse depends apparently on your very personal viewpoint) I'll just make a simple suggestion:
Reverting playlist handling changes made about two months ago in
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/11808and in
http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi?view=rev;revision=30177Or at least make the playlists files behave like in Winamp, Windows Media Player, VLC and any other media player that comes into my mind. Rockbox has already two great ways to browse for files (database and the normal file browser). It doesn't need IMO a third one for the Playlist Catalogue.
I would like to hear the opinion of other (former) playlist user, too.
Despite of what I've said before I would be more than happy if someone could explain me, a normal Rockbox user, what the actual advantage of the current playlist behaviour is in comparison to the old one. Can't think of any as right now.
I'll just leave my old text below the edit. It's almost obsolete since I consider the problem bigger than an upcoming clickfest for playlists user in the next stable release.

[Edit End]I don't know which post-v.3.9.1-Rockbox build changed the behaviour of the WPS Context Menu regarding playlists but as of right now (r30720) loading a saved playlist out of the Context Menu is not possible. (Ironically adding a playlist to the current or new one is still possible.)
It took me some time to realize and actual believe that it wasn't a bug and even more to make some people understand what I was "complaining" about. If you want to know the background of it you can read this thread here. Be aware that there was some major misunderstanding on the first page of the thread:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,28974.0.htmlIn essence it's about how many input commands do I need to load a saved playlist. With the current Rockbox build too many because it is worsened by a bug(?): the "Playlist Catalogue" menu in the Main Menu behaves like file browser, opening and showing the content of a playlist instead of playing it right away and returning to the WPS.
Even if this gets fixed it still remains not very ergonomic IMHO, since it needs 6 clicks and 3 buttons (Home, 4x down, Select) to get to the "Playlist Catalogue" while I have to pay attention to the screen where the highlighting bar is going. The "old" behaviour relied mainly on the select button and 4 clicks (Long Select, 1x down, Select, Select) making it possible to reach the "Playlist Catalogue" blindly (e.g. the pocket of your Jacket). Even more so the Sansa Clip+ which I use gives me a tactile feedback where and how many times I'm pressing a button, but what about the players with touch sensitive buttons or displays?
My suggestion is to revert the WPS Context Menu in the current builds to Rockbox v.9.3.1 behaviour and, more important so, keep it this way for future stable releases.
