I'm going to hold off on the going to unstable builds. I'm very selective of what I want to break/test and my music player is not one of them. If anything I will downgrade. So far the install has been working okay (synced only 500 MB of music/stuff I need) and I'll report back if it was indeed file system corruption.
e2fsck kept coming up with errors but it's always seemed to be unreliable with the ipod. I used chkdsk with windows and it did report a problem with the first, small partition. Gave nothing of value telling me what was wrong and it didn't fix it, but I went ahead and just started from scratch.
I've also been having issues. I gave up on trying to use the database and transfered all of my library over manually, just to have rockbox start freezing within 10 seconds of loading. 3.8 has been nothing but a mess for me. I get divide by zero errors when I attempt to change songs, or certain songs just skip to the next song halfway through playing, or I get memory read errors randomly when changing songs or menus. I'm downgrading back to 3.7.1 because I haven't had a single issue with it since it was released.
