Succesfull installation crushes after re-boot Gigabeat S
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:07:54 AM »
Hi, I'm new in the forum and have a problem with my RockBox on Toshiba Gigabeat S 30GB. I managed to succesfully instal the Rockbox on my device and even copy some music to it. However when I turn it off and try to start again it hsow that the system need to be recovered. When I do so, install the WM again and try to install the Rockbox again I can see that all the files prviously copied to the Toshiba Gigabeat S are still there. It just doesn't want to boot with rockbox after turning it off. Any ideas what should I do??

How have you installed the bootloader? Most importantly, have you installed a dualboot bootloader or the singleboot one? There is a known issue with the singleboot installation on the Gigabeat S if it has an updated firmware -- see FS#9778.

Well, I run it on single-boot loader by attaching toshiba by usb to my computer. i also reinstal MWSV12US when it crushes and repeat all steps again. I've read the discussion you sent me, but don't understand what "If you run a chmod 200 on the nk.bin before sending it to the Gigabeat, it will reboot nicely with the single bootloader." means. What is chmod 200?? The also say about it in step by step solution but don't understand this point. Thanks for help.

chmod is a tool on Linux to change permissions of a file. However, that method doesn't work (as the comments to the task state later on). Try installing a dualboot bootloader, that should work (and it defaults to booting Rockbox so it's not much of a problem).

I've installed it on dual-boot and it works perfect. Thanks!
