Album art naming problem?
« on: August 05, 2010, 10:40:06 PM »
Is the following a bug?

I have MP3s with albums that have an embedded hyphen surrounded on each side by a space (e.g. "Omni Vol. 3 - Planet Earth").  In the .rockbox/albumart folder I have a JPEG named in the following format: Artist-TitleWithEmbedded - HyphenEnclosedBySpaces.jpg.  Cases like this seem to cause the albumart directory feature to fail.

For example, the bitmap ".rockbox/albumart/Ayman-Omni Vol. 3 - Planet Earth.jpg" is not displaying on the WPS for an MP3 with artist "Ayman" and album "Omni Vol. 3 - Planet Earth".

Another example, the bitmap for ".rockbox/albumart/Wendy Carlos-The Best of Both Worlds - The Second Audion Sampler.jpg" is not displaying on the while playing screen for an MP3 with artist "Wendy Carlos" and album "The Best of Both Worlds - The Second Audion Sampler".

In both examples above, the album artist field has the value "Various Artists" (I don't know if that makes any difference, but I thought I'd mention it).

I am running the official Rockbox 3.6 release on a Sansa E280R.

Edit:  I renamed the JPG files to use the value of the album artist ("Various Artists" in the examples above) and that worked.  Apparently, album artist trumps artist, and I guess that makes sense, otherwise there would be a lot of duplicate album covers needed for the same album which could be a collection of various artists (e.g. movie soundtrack).  I guess I need to look into seeing if the rockbox album art extractor utility is creating the proper albumart file names for the images embedded in the MP3 files.
