Can anyone explain why my theme of choice (XL Fuzed) no longer loads its backdrop on my Sansa Fuze? It was working fine with my previous recent build (whose version number I sadly don't recall -- an unfortunate side-effect of using Rockbox Utility to make updates), but the latest build (r27797) always gives me a black backdrop upon bootup (with the XL Fuzed theme active) and when activating XL Fuzed in the Themes menu. Strangely, I
can get the theme's backdrop to load if I specifically navigate to the .bmp file and select "Set As Backdrop", so the actual image file seems to be okay.
Stranger still, none of my other themes seem to have this defect. For instance, if I load XL Fuzed: Pinkish -- which is nearly identical to XL Fuzed with the exception of some color shifts and minor file renames -- its backdrop loads just fine.
Things I have done so far in search of a remedy:
- I quadruple-checked the backdrop file path in the theme's .cfg to make sure it was pointing to the correct place (it was).
- I renamed the backdrop bitmap and changed the theme's .cfg to point to that instead (no luck).
- I resaved the backdrop bitmap as a new file on my computer, loaded it onto my Fuze, and pointed the theme's .cfg to
that file (still no luck).
- I removed the XL Fuzed theme from the player and reinstalled it from the computer (no change).
- I ran chkdsk via Windows' Command Prompt on the Fuze's internal drive twice (no change there, either).
- I pointed the theme's .cfg to a different backdrop (cabbiev2.bmp) just to see if it would load that (it doesn't).
- I pointed a different theme's .cfg to the XL Fuzed backdrop to see if that theme would load it (and it
does).
Reverting to the previous daily build (r27774) makes the backdrop appear as it should...so the problem does look to be build-related. My guess is that r27791 is involved, since it explicitly addressed backdrop handling, but I'm at a loss as to why it seems to be affecting this one theme only...
The version of XL Fuzed I'm using can be downloaded
here (though the version on the themes site exhibits the same problem). I'm hoping some of you experts might give it a look and offer your thoughts...
