Welcome to the Rockbox Technical Forums!
The hardware or firmware should detect low battery and shut down to prevent this.
The only flash based player with external storage that runs off of a standard AA battery is the archos ondio, it's an ancient player but afaik fills all your criteria.
That means it didn't shut down cleanly, no, but just had the power cut. That doesn't mean the battery is completely discharged to the point that it causes damage, though: the battery itself has a cutout to stop that happening. It probably didn't make any difference. If you were using your player enough that you were having to recharge it from a very low level every single day, then that in itself would've shortened the life of the battery somewhat
Is there much left to do before Rockbox can be considered as "stable" on these targets ? Is the progress going fast ?
Does anyone know where can I find the Sandisk Sansa m260 ?? Currently nobody seems to sell it even on eBay...
Just a quick +1 for the Clip+ - great little Rockboxed player
