I think he meant "debug" screen, and his spell checker got in the way :)

I'm unable to solve the problem.. I think I'll switch to using the original firmware and Floola for a while..

It'll be the first time I use the original firmware, so not sure how happy I'll be.. I know I'll be giving up so many cool features, but Rockbox has been buggy since I installed it anyway

Thanks to torne and everyone for your help

Could it be an issue with the scroll wheel?  If it is, the problem might occur with the original firmware.

I agree with everything elkhedewi is reporting.

Mine worked fine for the better part of a day.. then when I took it on vacation, I noticed it was back to constantly rebooting when left in Rockbox mode.  I have to keep letting it reboot into iPod mode to retain any battery power.

I've uninstalled Rockbox and have been using the original firmware for a week now, and I think the sound quality deteriorated considerably! Is that even possible?

Back to the topic though, I did a full uninstall of Rockbox including bootloader, and then reinstalled the bootloader and release 3.6, but got the same problem..

AvatharV can you think of anything you did that may have triggered this?

Any evidence of the keys pressing themselves?  (leave Rockbox in the menu for a while and when you come back you're in a different location)

No.. I can't think of anything that would cause this.  I don't really tweak settings much.  It works the way it is, so I don't mess with it.  So, somehow, I doubt that is a cause.

I also do not think that it is a button issue. It stays on the same buttons, until it times out and reboots.

Everyone please remember to report which revision you are using when you make observations about behavior.

I was using 3.5.1 when the problem started, and I upgraded to 3.6 but that didn't fix it

Same here.. version 3.6 of Rockbox.

The only thing I have been able to find on my iPod is that my hard drive seems to be failing.  I don't see how this could be  an issue, but it is the only thing that is out of the norm here.

And it is still rebooting, but not all the time.  Sometimes it will be rebooting for days.. then it acts normal for a while.

Here is my blog post on a problem I had:  Video iPod won't charge via USB, won't turn off from Rockbox.  Basically, the USB power circuitry in the iPod was defective, and it was feeding power back to the USB power input.  This power made the iPod think that a USB cable was detected.

My ipod (5 80g video) refused to charge for a while. It would boot into charge mode (on cable connection) and quickly restart, each time getting less and less far into the process, shorter time between resets. I concluded from this that the battery was near dead and the cable wasn't providing power or the charging circuit wasn't recognising it.

I neglected to fix this and months later tried to charge it (with a different cable, I still haven't tested the (possibly faulty) other one) and all was well, but the run time is quite deficient.

Which of these is most likely?:

battery deteriorated from being stored with no charge?

battery shorted somewhere so it drains quicker than usual? I never had the false connection recognition that is discussed here...

charging logic prematurely deciding the battery is charged, and rockbox misrepresenting the charge?
