I will call him today and see if he backup the OF before doing the OSOS when i do the disk mode without it being plunged in to USB it just says ok to disconnect but when i plug it in it says OK to disconnect it does not change.I tried another iPod Video 5.5g with the same USB Cable and the same Computer port it shows up with my computer and itunes. So how do I get rid of the OSOS?
If i had a Zif HDD enclosure with a USB would that change anything? i could load things into the hard drive.
so if the ipod charges but does not connect to the computer does that mean the main board is damaged?
Just a note, though: if the current logic board is a 5.5G with 64MB of ram, and you replace it with a 5G logic board (32MB of ram), then the rockbox build installed on the player will not work properly as it will likely be a 64MB build... you can replace it with a 32MB build using the emergency disk mode, if you want to try out rockbox before you go back to the OF. If you get a 64MB logic board it should work fine whichever build is installed (the 32mb one runs fine, just less efficient).
