Power off after charged
« on: November 19, 2008, 12:10:05 AM »
I know that USB support is not there yet for the Sansa e200, but when it is...

If you are using the OF and have USB power and no data, if you attempt to turn the E200 off it goes to a charging screen.  Once the charging is done or power is removed, it shuts off.  This would be a cool feature for RockBox.

BTW, when will the E200 have support for USB charging and data?

I am really happy with RockBox.  Thanks for the good work.

Whenever someone gets the work finished. Support is technically available now, but you have to set up a build environment to use it (in the case of charging, you must apply a patch afterwards to use that).

However, the developers feel that the two functions are not yet ready, because they are (1) still too error-prone or (2) are simply not as ready as they'd like it to be (i.e., it works fine, but something's missing that should be added, etc.). There may be other reasons, of which I'm not aware. ;)

With Rockbox, there is no known date for when anything will be finished. It all depends on whether something is being actively worked on.
With that said, the most surefire way of getting it done is to do the work yourself. I'm not saying it's a mandate, but at least that way you know when progress is being made. ;)

Rockbox is not about the OF, so there is absolutely no point in this. Also, plugging in power makes the player turn on (even without data connection). Thus, when shutting down the player after charging is complete it will turn on again. This isn't done by Rockbox (it isn't running at that time), so there is no way to do something about it.

I am asking for a feature to be considered for RockBox, not the OF.  Why is it pointless?
Maybe some mp3 players turn on after turned off.  But the e200 stays off.  However, if you disconnect the power then reconnect it, it will turn on.
