Once you have patched the source code, you then need to compile it into a Rockbox build. Therefore the windows patch utility isn't particularly useful on its own.In order to do patching/building etc., even without any intention of taking it further and developing, you need a development environment set up.See www.rockbox.org/wiki/SimpleGuideToCompiling

I didn't think I wanted to go through the trouble of getting a build environment set up just to apply a patch. Then again I'm not completely sure how much of a pita I would be passing along asking someone to patch it for me XD

Honestly, it'd be much simpler to do it yourself, it really isn't very difficult and would give you a great sense of achievement
