Hello. I have an Ipod video (5g). I'm brand new to the Rockbox scene, and last night I installed everything (bootloader, Rockbox, themes, fonts, icons, etc) and everything went smoothly.
But as the topic states, I cannot build a full database for some reason. When I go to "update database" or "initialize database", it finds hundreds or up to a thousand of my songs, but while it's doing this it completely drains my battery within 2-5 minutes and shuts itself off and I have to plug it back in and recharge.
I even tried holding down the menu button and plugging the usb into my pc, and it gave me access to the ui and showed that it was plugged in up in the upper left hand corner of the ipod screen, but then when I tried to update it started, went for a minute or two, then shut itself off again.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I've never had real issues with my Ipod battery life before, so I don't think that's the culprit. If I had to guess, it sounds like a software issue of some sort. Perhaps I have something set incorrectly maybe? I'm really not sure though.
Could someone point me in the right direction? I really love Rockbox, but I need to be able to build a complete database to access all of my songs (none of them are Itunes downloads btw) or else I'll have to switch back to the Apple fw only, which I don't like at all now that I've been spoiled by Rockbox for a few hours.
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows what my problem is.
Dave
Edit: After letting my Ipod sit for several hours to charge using the Apple fw, I tried initializing the database again (with the usb plugged into the computer and the settings on "charge when usb plugged in") and I got a little further (this time it got to 3000 of my 6000 songs), but then the same thing happened....battery completely drained within just a few minutes and then rebooted itself. I don't understand this.
