Sansa E260 first install OK !
« on: April 02, 2008, 07:46:12 AM »
Hello !
I am a very new Rockbox user from Grenoble area in France.
As the original Sansa E260 ergonomy is, how to say ... well, could be really better  :-\, I tried to find if it could really be. And I found information about Rockbox.
So, it is the first time I try it, and it is OK.
Even for a french guy, without a french documentation  ;), it is really easy to install and configure.
The only surprise was the directory display. No music directory... and no way to find the music I have on my device. :o
But a fter reading the manual, I understood that I had first to build the database. Now, it is OK.

Thank you very much  for this great job !

Best Regards.

I have a Sansa e260 and wanted to try out Rockbox.
So, after reading all the instructions tried the automatic install but the bootloader failed to find the device although it showed up in the directory.
Manual install encountered the same problem. finally, after updating the driver on my PC and the device firmware the automatic install worked perfectly :D
Guess the driver got erased somehow when i experienced some trouble with Windows a couple of weeks ago.
Thought it could help to remind people to check that their device works and is updated before installing to avoid frustration.
Thanks for this very cool application.

I'm guessing that you're using the option to use the device upside down.   8-)
