A letter???
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:06:16 PM »
Welll... I`ve done everything... and nothing seems to work.
I already tried the recovery procedures, and still my computer never recognizes my gigabeat.
It appears when i open the Safely Remove Hardware, but my computer never assings a letter to it, so i can`t paste anything into it....
Please someone help me!!!

Try using Disk Management to assign a drive letter:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000

I tried it already, but didn`t solve the problem.
I think the HDD is fu$·%&ed, so I`m already thinking in buying a new player...
iPod maybe.

So if you've been into disk management to assign it a drive letter, you must be able to tell us how it's partitioned ?

No, and that`s my problem, my computer recognizes the HDD as TOSHIBAMK2000GAL (i think) cause it appears in the Device Manager as a HARD DRIVE, but when i use the Disk Management, it doesn`t  appear, so i can`t partition it, and i rescaned but it never appears... i wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that i`m running XP Home Edition

Did you try hooking it up to any other computers to check if it was your computer?

Yes, i tried it in a computer with Vista, i'm getting closer, now the disk manegement recognizes the drive, but i can't create a partition, it says that the disk is unreadeable... i'm actually using the microsoft support.
