Blind users & a particular voice

Hello.
I am a blind user of the iPod 4G grey scale & it is loaded with RockBox version 15901. There are a few problems with turning it off & coming right back on again, but I will cover that in a later post. I really like what you guys are doing here, especially for blind users & now to my question.
I own a valid copy of AT&T's Natural Voices Crystal, version 1.14, & want to know how I can put it on my iPod. I tried the "Crystal.zip" file & renamed it to "english.voice" & not only did it not work, the iPod would not play music. I put the daily "english.voice" file back in & the iPod worked using RockBox. Is there a way for me to use my Crystal? I hear a female synthesized voice better than a male synthesized voice, so it would really help me to have Crystal.
On my computer running XP, I use JAWS with DecTalk Access32. Is it possible to use DecTalk, if not Crystal? My wife has spent hours looking on your site for instructions on how to use Crystal & so far, she has found nothing.
Also, as I get more used to this iPod, I want to contribute layout info for other blind users. I want to give back to this endeavor & not just take from it.
THANKS & GOD BLESS!

You can make your own voice file if Crystal is a SAPI voice.
Instructions are here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/VoiceBuilding
- only the section under "Using Linux or Cygwin" is relevant.

Hello and thanks for your reply. We've read the steps on the link you gave us, and we are really not sure what some of the instructions mean since we don't write code, BUT we will continue the research and give it a try. If there is any way you can help us understand what the instructions mean, we do need your help. Thanks and God Bless! Bob and Helen

If you can detail what you have done, and at what steps you have problems that would help. It is a bit hard to guess!

If possible, we should update the instructions to make them more understandable. This seems like a good oppurtunity...

Absolutely, if the OP lets us know which points are unclear we can work on improving them.
