Problem when e260r to computer
« on: September 16, 2007, 01:04:21 PM »
The e260r won't connect to the computer.

It says:

Quote

Loading original firmware...
Trying firmware partition
Can't load from partition
Invalid file format
Trying /system/OF4.mi4
Can't load /system/OF4.mi4
File not found
Trying /system/OF.bin
Can't load /system/OF.bin
File not found

Any ideas?

Thanks

You need to follow the directions to get it working.

Windows

Linux

Since USB doesn't work in Rockbox yet, you're going to need to use Recovery Mode to go back to the OF, then follow those directions.

I wasn't clear.  I successfully installed Rockbox on the Sansa e260r.  However, I now cannot connect to the computer.

Are you suggesting I reinstall Rockbox?

Thanks,

Ray

Make a folder named sansa on your desktop
Download the following file and place it inside the new sansa directory: http://daniel.haxx.se/sansa/e200/rhapsody/rhapsody-1.0.2.31.zip
Unzip this file to receive pp5022.mi4
Rename the resulting file to OF.mi4
Download the following file and place it inside the new sansa directory: http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/sandisk-sansa/e200R/pp5022.mi4
When your device has fully booted, connect the USB cable.
Copy pp5022.mi4 to the root of your device.
Copy OF.mi4 to the "system" folder within your device.
Download a recent e200 build of Rockbox and unzip it to the root of your device.
"Safely remove" your Sansa, disconnect the USB cable and wait for it to reboot. It should refresh the database, then upgrade the firmware. After another reboot, you should be in Rockbox!
Delete the "sansa" folder from your desktop.

;)

Successfully followed most of the directions ;)  Since Rockbox doesn't have USB support yet, you're going to need to go into recovery mode save the unzip'd file (pp5022.mi4 before you rename it to OF.mi4) onto the recovery mode drive, which will get you back to the OF.  Then, you need to repeat the steps mentioned above, paying close attention to the italics ;)  Hope that helps.

Yep...  you were right.

I didn't unmount the Sansa after I transferred the files to it.  In Kubuntu, right after doing the e200tool stuff, the Sansa is recognized and opens on the desktop.  So, I "dragged and dropped" the new files onto the Sansa.  However, I then "exited" the Sansa from linux rather than "unmounted".

Once I got everything loaded, it worked great.

Thanks,

Ray
