Files don't show up at all. HELP!!
« on: July 08, 2007, 10:30:08 AM »
Howdy everybody!
Thanks in advance to anybody who's kind enough to help me out.

I've got a 30gig video ipod, and I've been using rockbox for several weeks. I LOVE it! But for some reason it's not showing files all of the sudden.
I have updated to r13819-070708, but that hasn't helped at all.

Basically, I drag files over like I always did. When I select Files in the menu, it'll show the folder name like usual. But when I select that folder, it acts like there's nothing in there.

I've hooked the ipod back up to the PC to verify that the files were there. Sure enough, they are. But rockbox isn't seeing them for some reason.

I've tried mp3 and flac files. Doesn't see either of them.

Of course it works fine if I use itunes.  >:(

The whole reason I got this ipod in the first place was the fact that I WOULDN'T have to use itunes.

Does anybody have any ideas?

THANKS!!!

P.S.- There were no changes made before this started happening. As a matter of fact, I hadn't used the ipod at all for several days. It went from working fine on Monday, to  not seeing any files on Saturday. I updated the version to see if that would help, but obviously it didn't. GRRRR!!!!!

When I follow that path, I see...
All
Supported
Music
Playlists

What am I looking for within all that?
When I drill into all of those, the Show Files is highlighted.

EDIT: Wait a tick. After poking around in that area, I gave it another try. Guess what. It's working now! I'm VERY happy about that, but a bit confused. What could have happened?
Also THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

You may hve inadvertently set the "show files" setting to "playlists" instead of one of the other three options.

You may want to read the manual, to understand the player's settings (including the above); see the link at the left, to obtain a copy ...
