Not hard at all, I would say. yapper, what do you think of this, are you okay with it? We should commit the new version of this and the sansa version together.

@crzyboyster: I've got no problems with there being two versions, but there are a couple of problems:
1. I've found that the mix12 font doesn't match either helvR10 or helvR12 in height (I was under the impression that it contained helv12 from lazka's post way back in this thread, so I was always thinking of that as a fallback option, but never tested it until now :(). I'm playing with various fonts at the moment, and the best match I've found so far is nimbus-14 (or Sazanami-Mincho-Regular-14)
2. Unicode is too big, so the second version would have to use mix12.

@saratoga: I do tend to agree with the idea of having the users who need the extra charactersets download an extra font pack.

yapper: The theme will have to be modified (like the images and code) because nimbus fonts are simply not an option. (Let's not get started on the font debate again). We will have to make the two versions use helvR10 and unifont. It should look fine and I will do the job myself if you want.

1. I've found that the mix12 font doesn't match either helvR10 or helvR12 in height...

It actually *needs* to be the same font height as the H300/Ipod Color and X5 version use currently - otherwise there would be (or is?) a problem with the remote WPSs. I haven't checked the final versions though...

Edit: Font size is the line height so to speak but the font could have characters that just look smaller or bigger and have a different amount of spacing. It's sometimes easier to count how many lines fit on the screen to find that out though.

pixelma: the mix12 font appears to be similar to HelvR12 in terms of the actual character height, but the line spacing is different. I only did the main WPS (my target doesn't have a remote) so don't know if there is (or will be) a problem with remote WPS.

crzyboyster: I don't mind at all if you want to do a redesign using 'proper' fonts. You've done a great job on the others :)

So should I start work on it? What font does the port need? helvR10 or 12?

helvR12 is better for readability, certainly on the 2nd Gen iPod.

It needs the same font as the H300/Ipod Color version (currently).

if you're gonna do it, take into consideration that the ipod mini is currently using the same icon set (at least it was some time ago  ;D)

If I understand correctly, helvR10 has to be used. I will finish it up tomorrow or by Saturday.

helvR10 is 12 pixels high, helvR12 is 15 pixels high and both nimbus-14 and Sazanami-Mincho-Regular-14 are 14 pixels high.  If the nimbus font and Sazanami-Mincho-Regular-14 fit the theme where mix12 was used that means the mix12 font must be 14 pixels high as well, which means in order to use helvR10 there will need to be modification done to acount for the difference in heights.

Don't the other 160x128 targets use R10?  I think using the same font as those would make the most sense.

With the danger to repeat myself... it not only makes the most sense but is necessary to make the X5/M5 remote wps work correctly.

I take the "needs to use the same font as the H300" back though, because it seems possible to specify a different rwps in combination with a different main WPS (iCatcher does, for example). Doing so would need someone creating a second iriver remote wps and this also wouldn't make sense as the H300 uses helv10 too.

By the way - saratoga: your including the rwps in different way doesn't work - it is listed in the .cfg but the actual .rwps is not there. Plus, it is different than what iCatcher does for example, I'm working on a fix. And another thing, I don't understand the need for the min width and height definitions (especially all listed seperately) and I would have expected one specification of colours, gradients etc. with the wpsbuild/WPSLIST system being clever enough to include the settings dependent on the target's feature. (This is what I would think is possible but unfortunately I'm lacking perl knowledge...)

One recommendation: just as when the volume limit exceeds 0 and the icon turns red, the battery icon should turn red when it reaches a critical point.  8-)
