I don't see why.  I did the original Cabbie port to the Video and its not very hard.  Its just the gigabeat with the screen rotated 90 degrees, so you just need to rearrange things.  If no one gets a chance, it'll do it next week when I have some free time.

Shouldn't be much work now, I've already arranged the graphics.
I'll see if I can manage to compile a simulator for mac, though...

Also, senab stated in another post somewhere recently that he's not interested in licensing his work as Creative Commons.

Not quite true, it's really his original work for his 'Slant' themes that he is protecting.
Quote from: senab on December 02, 2007, 12:52:44 PM

I totally understand and respect that. From my point of view though, releasing the source images for my theme Slant is out of the question. This is because the 'graphical identity' from it has been incorporated into other things (eg. current uni work) and it needs to remain mine. I will probably change that (and indeed the license) when the work has been marked and released from Uni.

Personally that means to me he should be the last person contributing to this if it's going to make it as the default Rockbox theme.

I think that's a bit harsh. As it is well-known that the default theme will be under some sort of an open licence, senab can make his own mind up as to whether to contribute or not; his involvement won't automatically make the default theme closed and I'm sure the theme would benefit from further high quality artistic input.

I think the font (and the graphics too) is a little too small on the Gigabeat. Could we try with a larger font?

I tried to install svn, but can't get it to work  - too bad.

hm.. yeah. I'm sorry I didn't pay much attention to the license when i made the icon theme.. i guess it has to be redone anyway..

btw.. here is a little bash script that generates albumart like the one in the wiki but with a nice border and rounded corners.

ok, this will need some work:
http://www.naturalbornyoers.com/forumpics/cabbedefipodvid.zip

the graphics should be working, but I couldn't place the text without the simulator. maybe it will need a slightly larger font.
I hope the bar positions will work. album art is 120x120, btw...  whoops, forgot to adapt the album art position: it's 16x34y

I agree and maybe a bold font also?

I noticed that a lot of ports for this theme have just been updated. What was the major code change?

Quote from: yapper on December 09, 2007, 06:52:32 PM

I've just noticed a small bug in the Next track tag used when there is no album art. %fn is used and of course it should be %Fn. This is probably in ZincAlloy's code, and probably in others who copied it (like me).

I've fixed the greyscale version (and added a playlist indicator):
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH100#MarkFawcus

I checked my code but I don't know if this issue applies... Can anyone check my code and tell me if mine also has that bug and then tell me what code I should change?

And if you're wondering why I can't do this myself, it's because I'm better at designing wps's then coding them....

Help would be appreciated:

no, you've got a completely new "next song" code.

Sweet! Another thing, though, with your h300 version, you should relocate the shuffle and repeat icons all the way to the left. I will be doing this as well so that there's no gaping hole in the middle.

I noticed that a lot of ports for this theme have just been updated. What was the major code change?

The big change in the wiki was not caused by an update of the themes themselves just by me reordering the page a bit because:

  • it was pointed out that Cabbie 2.0 is currently only a candidate to become the default at the moment - albeit a good one - there could be others
  • to list the remote screens better (I hope - no one answered my previous question about it here)
  • to make the links wiki syntax again

personally I like the placement of the icons as is.
I will do something about the gaps, though.

The discussion about the code above reminded me that the question about the different features, information, alternating sublines or not or order of the status icons at the bottom still is not discussed.

I think that all should be in line - at least elements that appear in all screens should be the same (order of status icons are a good example). I'm not talking about additional information that can be put into bigger screens or the one or the other exception to the rule if there is a good reason - but it should look as if it was done by one person in the end (in my opinion).

The suggestion was to also use the wiki page to discuss this and my additional suggestion was to start an own "Cabbie 2.0" thread here. Don't you think?
