That looks about perfect now.

So when can we expect to see the versions for other targets? ;)

So... is there a chance that this theme actually becomes  the default theme? And yes, I am currently porting it, it should be up by this weekend because I have lots of stuff to do.

The conditions are still the same: It needs to be converted for all players.

Ported for the Sansa e200 series:

(See the wiki for the download if you want to modify it)

Unfortunately the Sansa screen is very thin so having text to the right or left of album art is difficult, even with this thin font, so it has to go underneath if you don't want "The Doodads" to scroll.  I sacrificed the next song info to get the album art in there at a decent size and avoid cluttering up the screen (having the album cover smaller with another space after the album title and then the next song info is really too much, try it yourself!).

I would like to take this oppourtunity to thank SoCo on ice for the cool comfort it gave my head while doing this, and also to say that hard work is only it's own reward if other people give a hoot.

Best,
Marc

P.S. I just looked to see if the font supported other alphabets (typical English speaker) and it doesn't.  I think it would be a good idea, given that this is an international thing, to have a Unicode font for the default theme.

---

ZincAlloy: I found a bug in the Cabbie 2 WPS you posted in the wiki.  The vol3.bmp file never gets declared or called.   You can use lowercase letters as variables in case you thought you had run out.  Cheers.

---

One more note:  I put the Shuffle and Repeat images together on the left because they will disappear when not activated (I personally never use them), and it looks strange to have gaping holes amongst the icons on the botton.

Ported for the Sansa e200 series:

I find the WPS nice looking in general, but I don't quite like the fact that all the settings are displayed "equally prominent". IMHO, the current status (play/pause/...) is a more important indicator than e.g. whether the hold switch is on or off.

Hm, and I'd feel quite the opposite. I know if it's playing or pausing by whether I hear something, so I don't even need another indicator. Meanwhile Hold is something I'd have to check the top/side of the player for, so an onscreen indicator prevents me from having to press a button to see if it's on hold, or turn the player, so it's "mandatory" in my opinion that it be displayed somewhere, while Play/Pause is a secondary that could be lost for space (to me).

that reminds me: why is there a wps tag for "stop" playing mode? It has no use at all since the while playing screen can't be displayed in stop mode.

You may very well be right and I even tend to agree with you. But my main statement still holds: the many indicators are not equal citizens :-)

Yeah, I don't think the idea here is to make a perfect theme that will make everybody happy.  I can't see myself using this one just because I don't care about a lot of the information it displays and it's missing some stuff I do care about, but I spent a few hours working on it anyway because the default theme needs to be changed.  At the moment, it stinks; it makes Rockbox look like an old jalopy instead of the sportscar that it is.  So how about we keep our criticisms to "your code is broken", "that isn't logical", "it doesn't match the theme design", "that's illegal", etc., etc, instead of focussing on matters of taste.  Nobody will ever force you to use it, you're more than welcome to modify it to suit your personal needs, and in the meantime these comments just act to distract from the task at hand.  No?
